The Earth System Services group releases a shiny app with information on climate impact drivers in Europe on the occasion of the 1st European Climate Risk Assessment (EUCRA) report of the European Environment Agency.

In March 2024, the European Environment Agency published its 1st European Climate Risk Assessment (EUCRA) report, highlighting that many risks have already reached critical levels and could become catastrophic if urgent and decisive action is not taken. Climate experts from the Earth Sciences Department of the Barcelona Supercomputing Center-Centro Nacional de Supercomputation (BSC-CNS) participated in preparing this first report

Now, a Shiny Spp developed within the EUCRA report framework has been released. The app collects information on Climate Impact Drivers (CID) in Europe, both terrestrial and oceanic, which was prepared as part of “Chapter 2: Europe in times of change and extremes” of the ECURA report.

The app, created by Martin Jury, Francisco Doblas-Reyes, Rein Haarsma, and Matías Olmo (Earth Sciences Department, BSC), includes a collection of land and ocean CIDs in the form of tables over four land and four ocean regions for trends for observations and climate change signalsexpressed as st-dev multiplesover the reference periods. Furthermore, maps of trends for observations and climate change signals complete the information provided by the app.

More information about the methodology used, the terms of use and citations, among others, can be found directly on the Shiny App site.
