Our work in this project

identification of vulnerable groups - Our analyses will lead to the identification of which groups of individuals are most vulnerable to climate change impacts, including anxiety caused by climate change existential threats (an estimation of the prevalence of eco-anxiety will be made), what diseases are the most expected to co-occur with mental health diseases, and how likely these co-occurring diseases are to be exacerbated by climate change events.

Impact of climate change - On the one hand, to assess the impact of climate change on the health of Catalans and to find vulnerable groups, data on disease diagnosis and drug prescription/dispensation, average temperatures, levels of different air pollutants, and mobility data need to be integrated. On the other hand, to assess the level of anxiety in the population regarding climate change, citizen data collected via surveys and social networks, as well as climate change news appearing in digital media, will be integrated.

Interactive dashboard - All the results and data used in the analyses will be available through an interactive dashboard that will be made publicly available.

Why is this work relevant?

The results of this project will provide major contributions that can be used to guide future government decisions regarding climate change prevention measures to protect and assist the most vulnerable groups in the Catalan population, as well as engage citizens to take action and participate in improvements of public policy.
