Urban planning
Urban systems are highly sensitive to weather and climate conditions. Changes in temperature, precipitation, pollution levels and extreme events affect infrastructure performance, public spaces and housing, as well as risks related to flooding, heat stress and air quality.
What we do
We take advantage of the MareNostrum supercomputer, hosted at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center to impact in urban planning solutions.
Based on computer modelling, we develop air quality services, including short-term forecasts on the concentration of the main regulated pollutants at different spatial scales. Our co-production approach allows knowledge exchange between service providers and users. This enables the creation of user-relevant information, the development of new data processing techniques, and the delivery of services that explore the role of visualisation and communication to improve the usability of urban planning information.
